Bulldogs forward investigated over alleged drugs offence

The NRL has been rocked with another drugs drama on grand final day after Canterbury forward Ofahiki Ogden was charged with alleged drugs possession last night.

The Bulldogs were made aware of an incident involving Ogden after being informed by his manager. The club has passed on the information to the NRL’s integrity unit.

Ogden is contracted to the blue and whites until October 31, but the club had no plans to offer him a new deal.

“The club was made aware of an incident involving Ofahiki Ogden overnight,” said Canterbury CEO Aaron Warbuton.

“We have reported everything to the NRL integrity unit. We can’t comment further until we hear back from them.

“Ofahiki doesn’t hold a contract past October 31.”

The drama is the last thing the NRL wanted on its biggest day after Suncorp Stadium was given the green light to host the South Sydney-Penrith grand final.

Warriors rookie Reece Walsh was last week caught in possession of cocaine when he was arrested by Queensland police in Surfers Paradise. He was charged with one count of possessing a prohibited substance and will front court this month.

And Storm players Cameron Munster, Brandon Smith and Chris Lewis are being investigated after they were filmed partying in a hotel, with what appeared to be white powder on a table.
