Make me the happiest man Too reveals secret plan behind grand final proposal
Panthers winger Brian Toâo says he first planned to propose to his girlfriend during the State of Origin series and hopes teammate Jarome Luai will stand next to him at the wedding after getting engaged at Sunday nightâs grand final.
After claiming victory over Souths, Toâo capped an unforgettable night by dropping to one knee on the sidelines and proposing to partner Moesha Crichton-Ropati.
Toâo said he went ring shopping with teammate Stephen Crichton - who is a cousin of his fiancee - and would have popped the question even if Penrith had lost the grand final.
âIt was actually Origin I was planning it, but obviously due to COVID-19 that didnât happen, so I made it the next step to push for the grand final [to propose], and then we got the win,â Toâo said.
âIt made it so much better. Iâm really happy Iâve got a ring and sheâs got a ring as well, Iâm really glad she said yes. Win or lose, I was still going to propose to her.
âI knew she was going to say yes. I just told her she was the best thing that ever happened to me, went down on one knee and asked her to make me the happiest man, and will you marry me?â

âIâve known her for close to eight years. Weâve been together for about two-and-a-half years now.â
Along with Crichton, Toâo and Luai are tight mates and proud representatives of Mount Druitt.
Asked who would be best man, Toâo said: âI havenât figured it out but probably âRomesâ [Luai]. I just wanted to get an answer from her first, that was step one. Lucky she said yes.â
Luai, who was in on the plan, said that if he gets any gig in the bridal party, he would be happy.
âWe were rooming today back at our hotel, so he showed me the ring and said, âIâm going to do this after the gameâ,â Luai said.
âIt made it more special when we won because I knew he had a spare ring there in his bag, so Iâm really happy for âBizzaâ. He loves his missus. Theyâre a good couple.â
Crichton said he was excited to become family with his good friend.
âHis fiancee is my cousin. Itâs very special. Iâm really close with Bizza and really close with her, so Iâm very grateful and canât wait for that experience, front row there with them both,â Crichton said.
âI went to buy the ring with him - me and my missus. He didnât know when to do it, but he really backed himself [in Queensland]. It certainly was made more special that we won.â
